BALOCHISTAN: The Health Department of Balochistan has just confirmed about two new cases of Congo virus, also known as Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF). Balochistan Region has total faced 26 including these two cases.
The latest case of Congo virus is reported in a 55-year-old man from Quetta and second in a 60-year-old man from Loralai. Both patients have been isolated in Fatima Jinnah Chest and TB Hospital special treatment.
In 2024, a total of five cases were reported, the most recent was also in Quetta on 16th August, Hospital sources are sounding the alarm, urging the public to take immediate precautions to prevent further spread of the virus.

Many medical experts and a very renowned chest physician Dr. Shireen Khan are giving duty there and bringing awareness about the Congo virus in the Balochi peoples and advising them to avoid direct contact with livestock, use insect repellents, and wear protective clothing, particularly in rural areas.
The Balochistan health department is intensifying efforts to control the outbreak, urging residents to report any symptoms immediately, as CCHF poses significant health risks, primarily transmitted through infected ticks or direct contact with contaminated animals, and can also be transmitted human-to-human in healthcare settings.
