Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has introduced a Rs20 billion Ramadan Package to help people during the holy month. The package aims to provide essential food items at lower prices to support low-income families.
Under this plan, the government will offer discounts on flour, sugar, oil, rice, and pulses at Utility Stores across the country. Special subsidies will be available for registered families to ease their financial burden.
He stated that the relief package will be closely monitored 24/7 to ensure smooth distribution. He also mentioned that this year, people won’t have to wait in long lines outside Utility Stores, as the cash assistance will be directly transferred to their digital wallets.
“This year, Rs20 billion has been allocated for the package, compared to Rs7 billion last year,” he added.
