ISLAMABAD—Easypaisa app, a very famous mobile wallet app in Pakistan with more than 9.5 million users, introduced a new policy change. Easypaisa will now charge Rs 99 for failed biometric verification and account upgrades through NADRA. This change was very shocking for most users, as there hasn’t been any clear regulatory explanation.
A lot of Easypaisa app users have seen many deduction of amounts from their wallets after facing failure in biometric verifications.
A recent message sent to Easypaisa users stated:
“Your fingerprints could not be matched with your NADRA records.” It then advised users to rescan their fingerprints. The message also mentioned that users can visit their nearest Easypaisa retailer for biometric verification, which will cost Rs 99.

This new fee charged by Easypaisa have created suspense in the users, that they will see deduction in case of account upgrades and biometric verification. However, there is no official statement released by the officials of Easypaisa where they explained the reasons and charges.
This was not the first time when this famous app introduced new charges, back in 2023 the company added a policy of SMS alerts where the fee of Rs 15 per month, which confused many users confused. In contrast, Pakistan’s Central Bank has instructed all banks and microfinance institutions to provide free SMS and email alerts to customers.
