The federal government has announced holidays in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on October 14, 15, and 16 (Monday to Wednesday) due to the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, has declared these three holidays in Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi District Pakistan, according to a government notification.

In the notification realized from the government, the upcoming holidays in twin cities are just to ensure smooth arrangements for the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government.
Earlier, the government approved the deployment of the army in Islamabad to secure the city for the upcoming SCO event. The Pakistan Army is now responsible for security in the capital, following orders from the Ministry of Interior. Authorities stressed that no disruptions to peace and order will be tolerated during the event.
