Eastern Spain street becomes red as the people throw overripe tomatoes at each other during the lively La Tomatina festival.
In the La Tomatina festival, almost 22,000 people participated, and the dress code was white, were stained with tomato pulp in this messy event that comes in August every year in Spain Bunol. This town is located 25 miles away from west of Valencia.
In this total 150 tons of red tomatoes in this crazy event were used that were brought up by seven trucks. In this festival, many participants come from different sides of the border.
There was an entry fee for this event set at 15 euros ($16.70), while the locals could take part in the festival without any charges.

Once the tomato battle was over, a cleanup crew with water hoses washed away the tomato remnants, leaving the town’s streets sparkling clean. The tomatoes used in the festival are too sour to eat but are perfect for the fun.
The La Tomatina festival started in 1945 after a fight broke out when some young people knocked over a parade participant while trying to get a better view. Others started throwing tomatoes from a nearby stand until the police stopped the chaos.
The following year, young people repeated the event, bringing their tomatoes. Although the festival was banned briefly in the 1950s under General Francisco Franco’s regime, it returned in 1959 with new rules.
