Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strictly restricted players from joining the Campaign for Cricket Betting App in Pakistan. Former Cricket legend and top wicket-taker Wasim Akram has caused controversy by becoming the brand ambassador for the Indian-based betting platform Baji.
This partnership has raised concerns about the legal and ethical consequences of promoting such companies in Pakistan.
Baji, a well-known betting platform, has also included other famous personalities like former adult star Mia Khalifa, English cricketer Kevin Pietersen, and Argentinian footballer Gabriel Batistuta in their ads. Together, they aim to expand the company’s reach in different countries.
Wasim Akram shared this Cricket Betting App in Pakistan through his social media, featuring Baji’s logo. He put the caption:
“Join me at Baji for some fun and excitement. Let’s enjoy the thrill and make great memories! Can’t wait to share this journey with you! … Win like a King!”
In another post, the former Pakistan captain talked about his long career in cricket and how he now wants to create something lasting with Baji.
Meanwhile, Baji’s app featured stars like Mia Khalifa in their promotional posters.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has imposed strict restrictions on promoting betting apps during live sports broadcasts, They have also issued a letter to all departments to stop making deals with these platforms.
