During his visit to Pakistan this month, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, confirmed that there would be no discussion on India-Pakistan relations at the SCO summit.
“There will likely be a lot of media interest because of the nature of the relationship,” Jaishankar said at an event in New Delhi. “But I want to make it clear that I’m going for a multilateral event, not to discuss India-Pakistan relations.”
He further added, “I will be a good representative at the SCO summit and behave accordingly.”
India’s foreign ministry confirmed Jaishankar’s visit to Pakistan for the Oct 15-16 summit but didn’t mention any meetings with Pakistani leaders.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Office had confirmed that Prime Minister Modi was invited to the summit, which Pakistan is hosting on Oct 15-16.
