ISLAMABAD –Several key locations in twin cities are closed due to PTI Rally today. In Rawalpindi, large numbers of security officers are on duty to stop PTI protesters.
The PTI announced that the protest will be held on Friday at Liaquat Bagh, On this Rawalpindi administration has almost blocked the entire city using containers and trucks. This made it almost impossible for vehicles to enter the city and locals living there are facing problems.
A large number of police officers have been stationed across the city, and Section 144, which bans public gatherings, has been enforced.
Major Intersections Closed in Rawalpindi:
- The route from Faizabad to Murree Chowk is fully blocked.
- Key points like Liaquat Bagh Chowk, Committee Chowk, and Asghar Mall Chowk on Murree Road are closed.
- Chandni Chowk, Rahmanabad Chowk, Sadiqabad Chowk, and Shamsabad Double Road Chowk are also sealed.
- Smaller streets leading to Murree Road are blocked with barbed wire, and schools on Liaquat Road, Iqbal Road, and Sixth Road have been shut down.
The Rawalpindi administration with the help of police has also closed some markets and shopping malls to avoid any kind of incident. The police officers are equipped with tear gas, guns, and other security gadgets. The closures have led to lower attendance in government offices.
Entry points to Rawalpindi from Tarnol GT Road, the motorway, and Rawat GT Road are all closed, along with routes from Murree, Kotli Sattian, Kahuta, Taxila, and Khurrianwala are closed due to the PTI Rally.
