The government of Punjab has imposed Section 144 in five more districts for more than three days for security reasons.
The Punjab government has also banned political rallies, sit-ins, and gatherings in Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, and Kot Addu from October 12 to October 14.
This notification was officially released by the Punjab Home Department to announce these restrictions.
This decision, requested by the local district administration, aims to keep peace and ensure public safety in response to potential security risks.
Earlier, Section 144 was also imposed in eight cities—Multan, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Vehari, Pakpattan, Okara, and Wazirabad—from October 10 to 12, banning all types of political gatherings, rallies, and protests.
In Rawalpindi, Section 144 has been implemented for eight days, from October 11 to 17, ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit happening in Islamabad on October 15 and 16. Activities like pillion riding, aerial firing, and political gatherings are prohibited during this period.
