This is the fourth year, that the Afghan Taliban government has agreed with a lot of their locals that they have brought a lot of stability and reduced corruption in their war-torn country.
However, after a lot of efforts, Afghan Taliban and Pakistan relations are still sapped. Distrust and disagreements persist, mainly from Pakistan’s demands that the Taliban should take stronger action against terrorist groups like Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
In the past few weeks, the government of Pakistan, including PM Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir, have made bold statements regarding the Afghanistan authorities taking action against these groups. But like always Taliban have not responded, often downplaying the issue by saying that groups like TTP are Pakistan’s problem to solve.

Despite Kabul’s apparent lack of concern over Islamabad’s calls for decisive action against TTP, diplomats believe that dialogue between the two should continue.
The Taliban have repeatedly offered to mediate between Pakistan and such groups, but Pakistan has mostly rejected this idea, seeing it as ineffective.
Pakistan Foreign Officer Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch gets a meditation offer from the Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid last month. She stated that we should not negotiate with the TTP and Afghan Taliban because this would be unfair to thousands of groups in Pakistan that faced this violence.
However, the situation is not looking good, there is still continuous diplomatic communication between both Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban. Both sides know that cooperation with each other plays an important role in solving this issue.
Pakistan’s Special Representative on Afghanistan, Asif Khan Durrani, mentioned that the Afghan government had given certain assurances, but Pakistan is still waiting for action. He emphasized that the Taliban need to take steps for regional stability.
Asif Khan Durrani tells two best possible ways:
- The Afghan Government should restrict the activities of TTP and surrender them.
- They should hand over TTP to Pakistan.
