Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, along with his team, visited Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman for a second meeting on Monday to discuss Amendments in Constitution of Pakistan.
According to sources, Maulana arranged a great welcome for the PPP Chairman. In the team of Bilawal Bhutto, some known personalities such as Syed Khurshid Shah, Engineer Naveed Qamar, and Karachi’s Mayor, Murtaza Wahab were there. From the welcoming side Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Maulana Abdul Wasay, and many others were present with Maulana.

The government is preparing to introduce these key amendments in the upcoming National Assembly session.

Senator Irfan Siddiqui of PML-N, who chairs the Foreign Affairs Committee, said a detailed briefing was held during a three-hour committee meeting. He mentioned that Maulana Fazlur Rehman did not oppose the amendments but asked for more time and assurances about the voting process. Siddiqui confirmed that the required votes are already in place.
Both houses of parliament are expected to recess later today, with some exciting amendments once the deciding committee finalizes them.
The presented amendment has caused some problems in between the current ruling party PML-N and JUI-F, with the latest, more clarification required before ending on a result. The again and again delays in the amendments give us a hint, that the government is trying to bring back all leaders on the same platform.
While cooperative, Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s stance highlights the need for unity in passing these changes. Additionally, the main character of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is also in doubt, with Senator Siddiqui hinting about the issues burning inside the parties.
As talks continue, both parties PPP and JUI-F are showing a positive impact in giving the right direction to the constitutional amendments, which can show good results for Pakistan’s political scene.
