ISLAMABAD: Electricity Unit Price in pakistan are ready to drop, as the government has announced it is ending agreements with five Independent Power Producers (IPPs), which will help lower the electricity tariff in the coming months
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shared this news and revealed after ending these contracts, Pakistan will save Rs 411 billion and give consumers yearly relief of Rs60 billion.
He praised the power producers for putting the country’s needs first. Pakistan’s largest IPP, Hub Power Company Limited is also part of it.
Energy Minister Leghari confirmed that electricity prices could drop by Rs10 per unit, and these changes may take place within a year.

For the first 100 units, the price is Rs. 22. For 101-200 units, it goes up to Rs. 36.90. It rises further to Rs. 39.10 for 201-300 units, Rs. 41.40 for 301-400 units, and Rs. 43.10 for 401-500 units. For over 700 units, the charge is Rs. 65 or more.
