FBR gov pk has extended the deadline date for income tax. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) gives a relief of 14 days, submissions can be done until October 14.
Recently, FBR gov pk announced there will be no relaxation for the submission of income tax in the financial year 2024.
The FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial organized a special meeting and decided to shift the deadline date to October 14 from September 30. He also revealed all the rumors circulating regarding extension of the tax were false.
With this extension, citizens now have extra time to submit their tax returns. In the meeting, the chairman was informed that Rs 1106 billion was collected through income tax returns, which is higher than the Rs 1098 billion target.
Around 2.9 million peoples have submitted their tax until 28th September, a big increase compared to 1.4 million last year during the same period.
The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has requested an extension of 30 days. The reason for the request was a technical error and delays in FBR System.
FPCCI President, Atif Ikram Sheikh also said that FBR should notice their tax system and make it good and easy to use. He also mentioned that only 2.6 million people have filed returns so far, but since July 1, 2023, over 844,000 new taxpayers have joined the tax net. He thinks the stretching could bring the total number of payers to seven million.
