PCB Unveils Exciting 2024-25 Domestic Cricket Schedule for Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming Pakistan Domestic Cricket 2024-2025. In this domestic cricket season, the PCB has introduced three new Champions Cup tournaments. The season will run from September 2024 to August 2025. So, the addition of three new tournaments will provide more opportunities to young players to bridge the gap between domestic cricket and international cricket.

The 2024-25 domestic cricket season will feature 261 matches across eight senior men’s tournaments, a significant increase from the previous season’s 203 games. The addition of the Champions One-Day Cup, Champions T20 Cup, and Champions First-Class Cup aims to provide a competitive platform for Pakistan’s emerging cricket talent.

These tournaments will bring together top-performing domestic players alongside Pakistan national cricket team stars, providing an opportunity to gain invaluable experience in a high-pressure environment.

What’s New in the 2024-2025 Domestic Cricket Calendar?

Three New PCB Champions Cup events

One of the major highlights of the 2024-2025 domestic cricket season is the inclusion of three Champions Cup events—Champions One-Day Cup, Champions T20 Cup, and Champions First-Class Cup. These tournaments will be played in a double-league format and feature five teams: Dolphins, Lions, Panthers, Stallions, and Wolves. Each team will have a former Pakistan cricket superstar as a mentor, and the teams will be allocated to regional high-performance centers in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Sialkot.

The PCB has announced enhanced domestic contracts for 150 cricketers. In contrast to the previous season, the new categories will include:

• Category 1: PKR550,000 per month
• Category 2: PKR400,000 per month
• Category 3: PKR250,000 per month

Additionally, match fees have been significantly improved. Players will now earn PKR200,000 for red-ball cricket, PKR125,000 for 50-over matches, and PKR100,000 for T20 matches.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that these Champions tournaments are not just about creating a more competitive domestic environment but also about revolutionizing Pakistan’s cricket ecosystem. He mentioned that the 2024-25 domestic season will help prepare future stars to represent Pakistan on the global stage, thanks to the rigorous match schedule and competitive nature of the tournaments.

Naqvi further added that around 13,000 development and pathway matches will also be organized across all formats for young players at the schools, colleges, universities, clubs, U15, U17, and U19 levels. This will help identify and nurture the next generation of cricket talent in Pakistan.
